Chipping From the Fringe
Author: Karyn Dunphy
Level: Any
Tip: Chipping from the fringe often haunts golfers. Try chipping with one of your hybrid clubs, like the 5 or 7 hybrid. Get yourself close to the ball; your feet should only be 6 or 7 inches apart and slightly facing the target. Place your hands lower on the club (even past the handle on short chips), so that your eyes are almost directly over the ball. The stroke should be like your putting stroke with very little or no wrist hinging. There is much less likelihood of stubbing your chips due to the nature of the hybrid, and you need much less force to create a good outcome due to the mass of the clubhead.
